Monthly Reflection: Nine of Stars & Seven of Moons
As we enter the month of March and we see the first signs of Spring (or Autumn for my Southern Hemisphere friends), the Nine of Stars indicates that many of us are bringing big goals or dreams along with us, taking root through the course of February.

February Reflection: Nine of Stars (a.k.a Nine of Pentacles)
This is an unexpected but beautiful card to pull as a reflection for February. In a world that feels like it’s growing more and more uncertain, where many people are facing challenges and difficulties, here we see a card of material comfort and stability. Before you scroll onwards, believing this message not to be for you, I encourage you to sit with this message first.
Notice that the hand itself in this image is still reaching for the star in the sky, the hand adorned with eight stars of its own. If there’s a star (or goal) we’re reaching for in life, our brains are wired to focus on that star that we don’t have, rather than noticing the eight stars we’ve already accumulated over time. This is even more so the case when those stars we’ve accumulated were earned during the pursuit of that star that still remains out of reach.
When we have a long path to walk, each step can feel really small. It can feel like we’ve made no progress at all. But over time, those steps add up. The thing is, when we’re still looking at the destination, and we’re still taking those singular steps, we still feel like we’ve not come very far. However, if we were to pause and reflect backwards, we’d realise how far we’ve come and see all the metaphorical stars we have. We may even recognise that the star we’re reaching for in the distance wasn’t the one we initially had our eye on - we made it there, and then moved the goalpost to one further away.
So, in February, perhaps the goalpost moved, or perhaps it came into clearer focus. Either way, as February comes to a close, there’s something on our mind. There’s an aspiration, a dream. Maybe there’s a long road ahead. But that doesn’t erase how far you’ve already come, or how much you’ve already achieved. Rather, what if the star you’re reaching for is only visible to you because of all of those stars you’ve already got?
As we navigate the month of March, our goals and dreams should remain in focus, but if you’re sitting there right now feeling like it seems to impossible, too out of reach, look backwards, look around, look in the mirror. Remember where you’ve been, consider where you are, and then get moving again.
March Outlook: Seven of Moons (a.k.a Seven of Cups)
I love when the imagery in the cards pulled aligns as perfectly as this. The hand outstretched towards the star, appears to hesitate in the Seven of Moons. That clearly visible star in the Nine of Stars now seems to evade us. Perhaps it’s concealed by one of those moons. Perhaps it’s beyond these moons altogether.
There is a word that is resounding in my head as I look at this card… distraction. The Seven of Cups is all about illusion, confusion and multiple choices. We might have a goal in our mind, we might be willing to put in the work to achieve it, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to be a straightforward path to the destination.
In March, the path towards our goals and dreams may feel unclear. It may feel like there are pitfalls to avoid or information you don’t have yet. There may be opportunities put into your path that feel too good to be true, disingenuous, easier and ‘good enough’ or kind of ‘off’ in some way.
Do not be distracted, deterred or dissuaded from your goals.
Remember that the moon’s glow is a reflection of the light generated by the sun, but the star is a sun all on its own. It is the light. And as such, it will shine brighter than any moon will ever glow.
This March, do not stray from the path. Do not be distracted from your dreams and goals. Keep focused. Keep taking those steps forward. Illusions and facades cannot last, but your star will continue to burn brightly, illuminating the path ahead.
Have a great month, and let me know if this resonated with you down in the comments below!
